Periodontal Treatment

Periodontal treatment is necessary when gum disease affects the soft gum tissues and/or the bone that holds your teeth in place. Retaining your teeth is directly dependent on proper periodontal care and long-term maintenance to prevent a recurrence of the disease. Long-term periodontal health is achievable, based on looking back at the results of the nearly thirty years of periodontal care Dr. Kobernick has provided.

Healthy gums enhance the appearance of your teeth, like the frame around a beautiful picture. When your gums become unhealthy, they may recede or become swollen and red. Or, they may show no changes. In later stages, the supporting bone is destroyed and your teeth may shift or loosen. These changes not only affect your ability to chew and speak, they also compromise your smile. Periodontal treatment is also completed to add thick gum tissues in areas of recession (tissue grafting), and to enhance the appearance of the teeth / smile.
